It's Thursday What are you reading?
I"m reading Burning Alive (The Sentinel Wars)By: Shannon K. Butcher
I received this ARC from RomCon, It's the first book in a all new series. The MMPB release date is May 5, 2010. This is the Editorial Review from the Book.
From Publishers Weekly
Butcher's absorbing series opener successfully fuses an urban fantasy premise with characters designed to appeal to romance readers. Helen Day encounters a man in a diner and is dismayed to realize she recognizes him from nightmares where he watches her burn to death. Drake, an ancient member of a dying race devoted to protecting humanity, feels a powerful attraction to Helen, which she returns despite her fear that the nightmare will come true. After demons attack them, Drake's determination to keep Helen safe is at odds with her haunting vision, leaving her wondering which to believe. Butcher skillfully balances erotic, tender interactions with Helen's worries, and intriguing secondary characters further enhance the unusual premise. Fans of Butcher's romantic suspense novels (No Control, etc.) will enjoy her turn toward the paranormal.

I finished that one last week and went and go the second to read after. I wasnt sure going in about the settings, but really ended up attached to the characters. Looking forward to the third on in May.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading Burning Alive. I love that the opening scene starts out in my hometown. I mean, who's ever heard of Olathe, Kansas? Maybe the author lives nearby! I've got the 2nd book in my to-be-read pile. If the 3rd one comes out in May, I'd better get to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you ladies enjoyed it, I am halfway thru it and looking forward to the 2nd book in the series. @Diana I know how you felt when you saw your hometown in the opening scene. That's how I felt when I read Alyssa day's Atlantis Rising. The first scene of that book opened up In Virginia Beach, Virgina which is my hometown!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Wings by Aprilynne Pike. (my review will post this week, I loved it) I'm reading The Awakening (Vampire Diaries Book 1) by LJ Smith and a book by an Oklahoma pastor called Why the Christian Right is Wrong by Robin Meyers (a surprisingly good read).
