Savage Angel
by Stacy Gail
BLURB:

Book two in The Earth Angels
Feel nothing. Sara Savitch's personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven's soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she's an amateur when it comes to relationships.

Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he's walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer's hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon's dreams for a year.

As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon's heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

REVIEW

Savage Angel is the second book in Stacy Gail's Earth Angel Series.
I really enjoyed reading Savage Angel. I thought the author was creative in using the Nephilim legend. It has been done before, but not like this.

The books premise is intriguing. The main characters are  being hunted by heaven, and hell, all the while trying to protect humanity from evil.

The heroine Sara was a strong character, she is trying to do the right thing while fighting her own demons. She comes off kind of hard throughout the book, but you can see that she really cares about the people she has sworn to protect.

The hero Gideon is tortured from the things he has seen and done while in the military. I first thought that he was way harsh, but as you pull away his layers, you find the real Gideon. All he wants is to keep the people he love safe.

I also enjoyed the secondary characters in this story, they were real, and identifiable.

All in all, Savage Angel was a excellent paranormal romance. There was enough action, and love to leave you wanting more. I look forward to the next book in this series.

EXCERPT:

“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”

“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”

She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she Theard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”

“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”
Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”

“Something that hot is hard to forget.”

Super Book Blast & Giveaway: Memories of Murder by. Lara Nance

Memories of Murder
by Lara Nance

Memories of Murder by Lara Nance, a Paranormal Romance is available for $.99 from March 4 – 8th on Amazon Kindle.

BLURB:

When Maeve McKenna renounces her witch powers and accepts a low-key nurse practitioner position at a Virginia retirement community, the last thing she expects is a suicide her first day on the job.

As the town's sexy sheriff, Paul Sutton, starts looking into the tragic death of his father's friend, Maeve can't help but get involved--with both the case and him. Their informal investigation unveils an old journal that connects the ruins of a nearby asylum and long-forgotten cemetery with the shiny new retirement community's memory unit--and Maeve's Alzheimer's patients.

Maeve senses a sinister presence in the old asylum, calling to the patients, but in order to stop it from killing again, she must first conquer some demons of her own and reclaim the magic she's denied herself.

Excerpt:

She imagined the thoughts that must be running through his head. She had to tell him everything now. If she didn’t, he would be dead in the next few days. He needed protection.
She stood up. “Want a glass of wine? This is going to be a long conversation.”

“Since I was just nearly killed, how about some whisky?” He fell back against the sofa. Liadan put her paws on his chest and licked his face.
Maeve went into the kitchen, trying to figure out how she’d gotten her powers back. It dawned on her that the morning after the Gems had arrived, her tea was not in its regular spot on the counter. She’d assumed her mother had only been cleaning, but apparently she’d also switched the contents of the jar to non-spelled tea.

She reached into the cabinet for the tea container and looked at it, shaking her head, then laughed. Never had she been so glad for the Gems meddling in her life. She threw it in the trash and returned to the living room with glasses, red wine, and a small bottle of George Dickel missing a few sips. “Here you go.”

He took the whiskey and tossed back a shot, then poured another glass, which he held between his hands. “So, what is it that tried to kill me and my father today?”
“You’re not going to believe me at first, but if you’ll hear me out, I think I have a pretty good case.”
He gestured with one hand for her to begin.

“Everything I’ve seen and heard, all the information in the journal, points to the presence of an evil spirit. I believe it’s the spirit of Dr. Colton Carterage.”
Paul stared at her for several moments. “You’re serious.”

“Completely.” She poured herself a glass of red wine from the freshly opened bottle, and sat in the chair across from him. A tingle of energy floated in the air. She recognized a witch cat at work. She tried desperately not to laugh at Liadan working her little cat magic on him, licking his face, nuzzling his chest, pushing her paws against his arm. He didn’t know what was happening, but darling LiLi was removing the mists of doubt from Paul’s eyes.

Maeve explained about patients in the dementia unit seeing ghosts of people described in the book. She told him about the white deer and why the limb had fallen. When she came to the part she dreaded most, she looked at LiLi and the cat complied. She curled up in his lap, purring, increasing the intensity of her witchy magic to ease his believing.
“There’s one more thing you need to know. My mother, my aunts…and me…we’re witches.”

Series Spotlight & Guest Post: The Sons Of Navarus Series by. Gabrielle Bisset

Hello My Lovelies,

Today I have the fabulous Gabrielle Bisset here to talk about her Sexy Vamps from her Sons Of Navarus Series.

Thank you, Tawania, for having me here at your lovely blog today! I love the idea of Wicked Readings. Mmmmm....sorry, I got a little sidetracked there thinking wicked thoughts. ;)

For the next month, I'm talking about my Sons of Navarus series as I get ready for the release of the 4th book in the series, Blood Prophecy, this spring. Since I'm at a blog about all things wicked, I figure I might talk about the heat level of the series.

I tell people that the best way to explain the Sons stories is think Christine Feehan meets Lora Leigh. They're vampires, their stories are HOT, and the sex scenes are erotic. Very erotic. It started out hot in the prequel, Vampire Dreams Revamped, and got even hotter from there. For me, it was a natural thing. Vampires are sexy, so it seemed right to make their stories erotic.

Here's the series blurb for a taste of what the Sons are all about:

Eight vampire warriors descended from the gods and chosen to defend their world against the Archon takeover, each dedicated to the war they must win. But there's another side to these Sons of Navarus—one that only the women they love know. Behind the strength they need to defeat their enemies lies a passion different in each one of the Sons. Their war will take them around the world and even involve the gods themselves, but they must unlock the secrets of the Prophecy of Idolas to defeat the Archons or perish in trying for none of their kind can be safe if the Archons win this battle.

Notice the mention of passion? Yeah, there's a lot of it in the stories, but it's not erotica by any means. There's just too much story to be called that.

Here's an excerpt from the first book, Blood Avenged, to give you a taste of the sexy storyline:

Sasa wasn’t sure what he meant about his fangs, but she was sure she’d never felt anything like the emotions coming off him. Powerful. Sensual.
She loved the idea that she might be the reason for how he felt. She’d been with other men who’d said she did it for them, but their emotions had always told a different story. Even with Jason, who she knew had truly loved her, she’d never felt anything like what Vasilije was feeling.
In a flash, her back was against the wall and she was lifted off the ground. His strong hands held her tightly as he pushed close to her.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you,” he growled close to her ear.
In the blink of an eye, his clothes vanished and his naked body, hard and powerful, pressed against her body. She knew she should be frightened. He was a vampire and the words he’d just said were tinged with more than a hint of a threat. She’d felt how sharp his fangs were—fangs that could plunge into her as he proceeded to drink every last drop of her blood and kill her.
She didn’t care.
Desperate to have him inside her, she pulled his mouth to hers and flicked her tongue again over the tip of one fang. In the dark, she was blind to his reaction but every other sense screamed to her that she wouldn’t have to wait a second longer for him to give her what she craved.
With no warning, he thrust into her, filling the empty space completely and taking her breath away. He poured every emotion he had into her—all the rage and sadness at losing Teagan, all the desire and need to have her. With each thrust, it all came pouring out of him.
Sasa held onto his neck, her fingers passionately tugging on his hair, just as soft as she’d imagined. Her legs held him tight around his waist, pulling him closer each time he reared back to plunge into her.
Lost in the sensual rhythm of his fucking, she slowly realized the deep growl he made as he moved his mouth to her neck. From somewhere deep inside him, he groaned her name.
“Sasa.”
His voice sounded full of every emotion she was experiencing. But at its core wasn’t rage or lust but sadness. She wanted to make that sadness disappear. For just a few moments, make him forget his loss like he made her forget the loneliness that had been part of every fiber of her being for so long.
