VBT: SPOTLIGHT / GUEST POST & GIVEAWAY- HUNTER BETRAYED BY NANCY CORRIGAN

BLURB:

Wild Hunt, Book 1

Tainted from birth, Harley lives a life cloaked in darkness and temptation. She resists the lure of her evil legacy by holding the memory of her ghostly savior close. Every night without him is agony. She fantasizes about him and yearns for his body, but he’s not the protector or lover she’s envisioned. He’s a Hunter bred to eliminate her kind. He’s also her only hope of salvation.

Calan, the leader of the Wild Hunt, was created to protect mankind from the Unseelie Court. For a millennium, he’s sacrificed to ensure the horrid creatures remain in the Underworld, but his strength wanes. He must rely on his enemy’s daughter to save him, but he doesn’t expect the intensity of their lust or love. Her touch calms his wild nature and ignites his carnal desires. He’ll risk all to save her, but doing so forces him to make the ultimate sacrifice, one that’ll damn him to suffer forever in his own living hell.

A Romantica® Paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

 EXCERPT

“Harley—”

She swiped her thumb over the slit already glistening with pre-cum. His warning turned into a moan. Liking the sound, she bent and kissed the swollen head. His flavor hit her. A shuddered breath escaped. He tasted as smoky and rich as his scent implied. She licked, suckled and teased more of his essence from him. The moans reaching her ears were hers, but the curses belonged to Calan.

Hands in her curls, he urged her closer. The silent demand reflected her wants. She opened her mouth and drew him in deep, as far as she could. She groaned around the thick cock stretching her lips. The unique flavor of her Huntsman had the potential to intoxicate her. Already lightheadedness threatened. She grabbed his thighs to steady her swaying body. Poised above him, she had him right where she wanted him. She wouldn’t let the opportunity pass.

She curled her tongue around him, licking the head she held grasped in her mouth. Another swirl and more of his smoked and rich flavor overloaded her senses. The demand for more echoing in her head mirrored the controlled lift of his hips. She widened her lips and sucked until he hit the back of her throat. Her gag reflex kicked in, something she’d never experienced before, but no man she’d ever had in this position had been as large as Calan.

Slow deep breaths through her nose eased the automatic response to the thick cock lodged deep.

He massaged her scalp. “That feels good, but ease back, angel. I’m too much for you. Don’t want to hurt you.”

Not if she could help it. She wrapped her hand over the length of his erection and stroked from its base to where her lips held him. His groan encouraged her and she fisted him, working the section of his exposed cock. More involuntary thrusts and more of his delicious smoked taste flooded her mouth. The muscles of her throat relaxed. With the next push of his hips, she swallowed him.

Her eyelids fluttered on a guttural moan.

So. Damn. Good.

The beauty of schedules in a writer’s life
Life is busy. There I said it. It’s something all people can relate to. Whether you work full-time or stay home, there’s always something that needs to get done. I’m no different. My life is beyond busy. Not only do I have a family, I work full-time on a rotating twelve hour shift schedule. What is that, you ask? Well, it’s fourteen days out of the month where all I do is work and sleep. Sounds fun, right? It’s not, but I’m used to it and it does give me a week off each month. Those precious seven days aka long break becomes my main writing time and it’s not to be wasted.
Schedules are not for everyone, but for me they’re a necessity, at least in my writing life. I’d never get anything accomplished otherwise. After I plan out my personal obligations, I designate any remaining time to either family or writing. On my writing days, I shoot for 3-5K and hopefully 15-25K over the week off. Any other days I have off, I squeeze in as much as I can, even if it’s a couple hundred words. If I know I’m supposed to be writing, I make sure I do it. That means setting timers so I don’t get sucked into social media, closing my email and informing my children that I’m working for the next couple of hours. It doesn’t always work. I’m always tempted to just peek at my email or social media, but for the most part it helps.
On non-writing days, I edit. The beauty of notebooks and word apps makes it easy to go over my rough draft on my lunch break or before bed. For me, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I work through edits and it keeps me close to the story until the next time I have time to add words to it.
Writing this way isn’t easy. It takes dedication and planning, not just with a regimented schedule. Plotting is just as important. I need to know what I’m going to write before I sit down.
So for me schedules are a godsend and they’re the only thing I’ve found that keeps me on track. Now if only I can convince myself to make a schedule for household chores…

Eshe, a sexy blonde scientist with lush lips and a hot body, is Kane’s only hope to save his family. He’ll do anything to keep her safe, including fighting alien warriors, crossing vast galaxies and giving his woman the pleasure she craves again and again, using every inch of his fit physique.

Excerpt:

The human waiting at the compound’s entrance didn’t know what he was volunteering for. Eshe drew her gun and swung the heavy metal door open. A jolt of awareness surged through her and the mark on her chest pulsed to life, her two souls pressing against her skin.

Not a human. She groaned, instantly recognizing the life-changing signs, an awakening of her body that could only be brought about by her destined mate. I can’t have a fickle human for my One. The timing bit the big one, as Raff would say. Eshe was close to solving the transference problem and joining with her One would result in an immediate transfer home. She’d return to a planet where she didn’t belong, where she had no perceivable worth, mated to a male she couldn’t trust.

Perhaps he’s not an average human male. A muscular torso clad in a black t-shirt blocked her view. Perhaps he’s loyal, trustworthy, faithful. Eshe tilted her head back and her mouth dropped open. Her human male had a square determined chin, skin tanned from time spent outdoors, hair darker than the vast expanses of space, and fierce brown eyes. The burning over her right breast spread south, lighting fires in a body she’d previously thought a temporary shell.

“Yes? You wanted something?” she demanded, her desire tempered with dismay. The mystery male was too handsome, too appealing, too normal. He’d have his choice of available human females, have no reason to bond permanently with one being, an alien who didn’t even fit into her own culture.

The stranger’s gaze fixed on a spot inches above her right shoulder. “My name’s Kane and I’m volunteering for the Orogone experiment.” His deep voice rumbled, the sound exciting her already agitated souls.

“And what is the Orogone experiment?” She tapped her index finger against the handle of her gun, clinging to her reasoning, her brain fighting a losing battle with her body. She wanted, needed to touch him, to join them and ease the pain inside her.

Kane’s mouth flattened.

“Exactly.” Eshe blew out a breath, relieved that he hadn’t lied to her. “You don’t know. You should go, forget about this place.” If he leaves, maybe these feelings will also go away. “Go.” She pushed on his left shoulder, the contact soothing her agony.

Kane grasped her wrist, his hand blurring as he moved, his response inhumanly fast. Her gun dropped to the ground, metal clinking against concrete. “I’m not leaving, not until I get some answers.”

“What are you?” She stepped backward, surprised by his aggression. He wasn’t human as he was too fast, too powerful. He wasn’t an Orogone as Orogones could sense each other. He wasn’t an off-worlder as they could sense those species too…the species that they knew of. She studied him, her scientific curiosity piqued. What is he?

“I ask the questions.” Kane pulled her to him, easily overwhelming her considerable strength, his hips smacking against hers, his chest flattening her breasts, his body hard and muscular and devastatingly male.

“I-I-I…” Eshe stared up at him, shocked and stimulated, entranced by the connection between them, by the power in his fit physique. Kane hooked one of his arms around her waist and pressed his palm against her back, his fingers splayed over her spine, his heat felt through the layers of clothing.

“Will you give me some answers?” His gaze flicked down to her identification badge. “Eshe?” He breathed her name, brushing his thumb over her wrist, back and forth, back and forth, in a sensuous caress. “Will you tell me what Orogone is?” He dipped his head, his mouth nearing hers.

Eshe lifted onto her toes, wanting, needing to taste him. He didn’t close the distance between them and she darted her tongue over her bottom lip. Kane tracked the movement, his eyes dark with passion, yet he didn’t move, didn’t kiss her.

“Kane?” Her voice was husky with need.

You Make A Difference
Cynthia Sax

I had always planned to write a trilogy around Tattooed Tryst. I knew I wanted to write Raff’s story and Raff is such an overprotective brother, he wouldn’t feel right about leaving his sister, not unless his sister had someone of her own.

But one of the challenges writers have is a surplus of ideas. All of these ideas battle for attention. I have a list of my top 100 story premises. Premises are added and dropped from this list weekly, sometimes daily.

That’s why our reading buddies are so important. You remind us about stories we should be writing, stories you’re waiting for.

Tawania reminded me about Tattooed Tryst. Every so often, she’d mention this story, this series. Every time she mentioned it, I’d think about the next story a little bit more, a little bit longer until I HAD to write it. The scenes were bursting in my brain, vibrant and riveting and real.

Then I polished Alien Tryst until it shone, almost to the point of obsession, because I wasn’t writing it for a mysterious reader. I was writing it for Tawania, a reading buddy whose opinion I greatly value.

Would Alien Tryst have been written if Tawania hadn’t reminded me about this series? Yes, eventually, I hope. (grins) I like to finish all of my series. But it definitely wouldn’t have been released this soon.

So if you want that next story in a favorite series, email the writer. Tell her or him you love the series. Heck, tell everyone you love the series. Every single reading buddy makes a difference.

VBT: SPOTLIGHT/ GUEST POST & GIVEAWAY- COUNTERMEASURE BY CHRIS ALMEIDA & CECILIA AUBREY

COUNTERMEASURE
BY
CHRIS ALMEIDA & CECILIA AUBREY

SYNOPSIS

In the first novel of the COUNTERMEASURE SERIES, tenacious ex-CIA agent Cassandra James is in hot water. A cyber thief stole sensitive information from her father's top client - information she was supposed to keep secure - and now she could lose her job, even if she is the boss' daughter. The only person who can help her recover the stolen data is sexy NSA analyst Trevor Bauer - a computer mastermind who's broken through her personal security and might break her heart as well.

Trevor is on the hunt for answers to the mystery surrounding his parents' disappearance. Following a promising lead into the missing Bristol files, he accidentally gets on the radar of a woman too hot to handle...and a mercenary willing to do anything to keep both of them from recovering those files.

To track down the thief, Trevor and Cassandra must embark on a harrowing adventure that leads them across the ocean and into a world of intrigue, danger, and passion. But as they close in on their target, their relationship begins to boil, jeopardizing their mission as well as their very lives. Will they learn to trust their instincts - and each other - in order to survive?

The suspense driven COUNTERMEASURE SERIES combines full-length novels and Bytes of Life short stories about sexy, technologically inclined men and women. The series is filled with heart-stopping danger and enough twists and turns to make a hair-raising rollercoaster seem tame. In the series, Trevor Bauer, a tough as nails NSA geek, and his even more tenacious love interest, Cassandra James, are on a quest for clues in the mysterious disappearance of Trevor's parents. Joined by fate, their search drops them into the mysterious and violent world of data espionage, one that tests their love as they sweep the world with romance, sex, and ingenuity to find answers that will have the power to change their lives forever.

COUNTERMEASURE--Book 1 in the Countermeasure Series--is The TBR Pile's 2012 Book of the Year.

COUNTERMEASURE is a recipient of the indiePENdents's Seal of Good Writing.

WARNING: Contains scenes of mature subject matter, graphic situations and language. Reader discretion is advised.

GUEST POST

What is the inspiration for our books?

Inspiration. Such a wide and very personal subject. Artists have relied on diverse sources of inspiration since the beginning of time. Muses can take the form of places, people, music, art, nature, and each artist is unique in what drives them to write, paint, compose.

When it comes to inspiration, we have our own individual drives. We each draw from different yet similar things to pull the best out of us and into our work. I find my inspiration mostly in real life experiences, people I meet, people watching, personal fantasies, and music. Cecilia has a similar process but veering more toward movies. While I am an avid audiophile, she is an avid moviephile.

The combination of different sources of inspiration works in our favor all the time. While I might come across a song that pulls at my heart strings and paints a new scene or character in my mind, Cecilia gets the same from a scene on TV or from a movie.

Aside from that, the biggest source of inspiration is the drive to write. Some stories come to us in pieces. It takes time to put it together, making sure nothing is amiss. Other times it rushes us like an unstoppable river. When the story comes to us with that sort of power and detail, we can’t wait to write it down.

The core inspiration of the story in our heads, presents itself as a powerful cascade of words which authors have learned to harness and contain in dialog and narrative.

The above applies to Countermeasure. As corny as it may sound, the story came to me in a dream. Trevor’s tragedy and his quest for the truth happened to me in one single dream. Part of that dream became Countermeasure’s prologue.

Our quest now is to expand that dream into a detailed account of that event, adding the bits and pieces missed and overlooked, filling in the small holes and patching the cracks in the story in dream format.

As for the other stories yet to be told, we never know where they can come from. We just hope to have many more years to use all the inspiration we find in the art of living.

Sláinte!
Chris
